d.trio marketing group has experience working with various non-profit organizations throughout our 20-year history. Recently, there have been some developments that may affect those organizations in a potentially big way. The Internet Society has made a very big decision to sell control of the .org domain to Ethos Capital (a private equity firm). Concerns over price hikes have been expressed by various organizations to maintain a .org domain after the sale is finalized but that may be the least worrisome part of the deal. Ethos Capital is an extremely young company and management of .org is an extremely important job. We would encourage anyone that holds a .org domain to keep tabs on this. A decision from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on if the sale will be finalized is expected by February 17th.
